SÆT is a participatory design project that explores lighting as a base for material exploration. Through a simple, modular system, the user is invited to design and create a personalized lamp using materials and techniques they already master or wish to explore. Rooted in collective making, the project examines how design can foster a more conscious and sustainable relationship with the products and resources that surround us, while challenging conventional ideas of lighting design. SÆT consists of a physical kit containing the essential structural elements needed to build the lamp’s frame, accompanied by a digital platform offering inspiration and examples of possible design variations. The user is free to design and craft the lampshade themselves, thereby shaping the aesthetic expression of the lamp. This allows for the creation of a unique object that reflects individual preferences.
